I was needing some help with my a/c system on a 79 k10 with a 350. The truck came with factory a/c, but previous owner removed the compressor and all mounting brackets. Would anyone happen to have pictures of the brackets needed, and how they mount so I can try to locate all needed parts.

The original brackets for the A6 compressor are really sturdy, since it was about as heavy as a small boat anchor. They also get in the way of everything on top of the driver’s side valve cover. You can drop in a new Pro6Ten aftermarket compressor, which is aluminum with the exact same form factor and connections as the old A6.

The other choice is a Sanden mounted toward the front, using Alan Grove or similar brackets, and adapters or new hoses to connect it to the stock condenser and evaporator.

You will also need a new filter/drier, orifice tube, green o-rings, and a complete flush of the old R12. It’s recommend to start with an R134 amount that is about 75-80% of the recommended R12. Then use your A/C gauges to make further adjustments.

this bracket you will need to secure the compressor to the side of the exhaust manifold.
