Anyone have any ideas why my 87 won't idle and shuts off when turning .
It first had this trouble about a month ago. I had a busted power steering hose so I got that fixed and changed plugs and plug wires and cap. Now the whine is back and the truck doesn't want to idle on hot or cold start ups and shuts off while turning. Could a bad power steering pump cause this I'm pretty much stumped

Stalling under accessory load is usually the sign of a very dirty IAC valve, which is the piece on the back passenger side of the throttle body, can be identified by the square 4 wire plug. Unscrew that, and clean inside the passage, and the pintle valve, and see if that works. dont crank it more than snug when you put it back in... very easy to strip.
Disconnect the battery for 15 seconds after, then reconnect, fire her up and go for a drive to see how it acts.

Yup....also happens if the throttle blades are set too low. Power steering is the biggest drag on an engine.

yeah i seem to have blown a seal, probably the seal was going bad when the hose went out and now that the hose is fixed its finished going out, instead of just replacing the seal im probably going to replace the whole box do you agree

It is getting tougher to find parts for the steering gear boxes,seals-OK but for shafts and such,it is getting tough.
