Really thinking about doing this and just getting another frame from a 3/4 or another 1 ton and just building it from the ground up. Being in Massachusetts I'm going to have to find a cab with a title but don't plan on getting it registered for a while since it'll be a project that I'm going to take my time with.

Anybody have any experience with putting a drivetrain from a K30 SRW under a dually 1 ton, 3/4 or half ton pickup? I've done K20 springs on a half ton K5 but not a K30. And if I was doing it under a dually frame, what would I be looking for to do the swap?

The big prize with the truck you shared would be the SRW Dana 60 front, and the (what should be) an NP205, maybe a synchro 205?

Verify that is really is a K30 by identifying that it is a Dana 60 kingpin front (not a 10 bolt) and the frame rails should be 8” tall in the middle, not 6” like a 10 and 20 series.

The rear should be a 14 bolt full floater on a SRW K30.

Dana 60 swapping 1/2 and 3/4 tons is fairly well documented and pretty common. If you were to use a dually frame and planned on keeping it a dually, you might be better off to use the SRW 60 as trade stock/sell it to fund a DRW 60 front as the dually fronts are not as valued as the single wheel. It can be converted with the appropriate parts though.

K-30 frames also have different rear shock mount locations and brackets for both SRW & DRW trucks - plus the 30 series has specific rear spring mount width spacing ( which is why the shocks are inboard of the frame rails on the 1-Tons ).

I don't think I would put off getting it registered, titled, whatever. Too many things happen over time and all may be lost, including the paper work you need for the registration. YMMV

Man, geography sucks when it comes to this.
Out here on the opposite coast, when these trucks get parted out, clean cabs sometimes go to the junkyard.
A guy I bought some parts from, I wanted A pillar and firewall windshield sections to fix what though was way worse on the blue truck. He cut out every chunk I wanted except the one around the vin because he need the vin attached to be able to junk the cab (no rust). Like leaving the nuts on a buck so the gamey can verify your tag.

this thread is almost 10 months old, and that parts vehicle with weeds around it is listed as sold on facefoot marketplace,

so antique parts ideas for mixing/ matching, will have to fish for their piles elsewhere
