700r4 revs too high before shifting.

I went a completely different direction on this. I actually ended up having a total rebuild done on the transmission. Beefed it up a bit, new converter and had a shift kit installed while they were at it.

I plan to keep it for a long time and would rather know I won't have to worry about if/when the tranny will go out.

Overkill? Possibly. Peace of mind? Definitely!

Did you remove the tranny and take it to them or did you just take the truck? Yeah, it's great to have the piece of mind.

Just took the truck in and had them do it. Did not have the time or interest in doing it at home.

$2400.

Went with a local guy who has been in business for 20 years and had a good reputation. He also did a clutch and flywheel replacement in my car last spring. I was pleased with the work he did then and he did good on my K10.

So you set it with the gauge while it is parked?

Sorry, just now seeing this. Yes, the guage reaches up into the engine compartment. The TV is set so that there is an instant increase in pressure, with any movement of the throttle plate.

To the OP: Good decision to get that modified and rebuilt.
