I replaced the cap and rotor on my HEI vacuum assisted distributor with PerTronix D4000 kit. I bought some Edelbrock Max-Fire Ultra-spark 50 wires to go with it but now i am not so sure that was the right call. Some things I've read said these low Ohm wires will burn up the cap/rotor quickly and i need 300-500 min Ohms.
This is on a 1984 K-10 sbc 350.
What say you?

That makes no sense at all to me. Someone would have to explain it. If anything More resistance should be harder on the rest of the system. You do understand the higher the resistance rating(ohms) the harder it is to pass electricity through? If someone can explain how making it more difficult to get fire to the plugs is going to burn up a cap and rotor I'd love to hear it. I use to run wire core plug wires and don't remember any problems with burning up caps and rotors. And beyond not remembering it,if zi did have a problem with it I would have quit running them. I'd contact pertronix and ask them.
