Yep, Clifford Research and Offy were the only ones that I am aware of that made aftermarket intakes for Inline 6's. The mods are quite expensive though for I6 motors. You sure you're not interested in just going with a SBC? The truck can be easily converted to V8, then your mods are much cheaper.

Also, isn't 82 one of those with the Integral Head? First mod you can do is get an older head, intake and exhaust maifold and get away from the crack prone lower compression, smog riddled head.

I used Clifford parts on an old Dodge slant six motor. Headers, and 4 barrel carb, bolted right up nice. Got the cam from Crane. That was back in the late 80's....

I have this same engine in an 81 and have had the itch to throw a SBC into it. Would my Three on the Tree transmission (converted to floor shift) bolt up, or would I need to change this also? If not needed, is it recommended? And if so what Transmission would be a good fit with something like a carbureted 350? Thanks for any and all replies....

leave it I-6, and put a throttle body system from a 4.3 on it.

IT will bolt right up. You will also use the same motor mount perches in the frame. You'll need to change your fan shroud, exhaust of course, shorter throttle cable, and minor changes like that. Past that V8 swap is easy.

I am curious about this 4.3 swap though. But, it is much cheaper to do a SBC swap. You can likely build a 350 much cheaper than a 250 these days.

Screw the fan shroud, go with electric fans! Furd Windstar fans are a great fit for the basic V8 radiator.

I agree Andy. There is a Dodge model E fan that is said to fit real nice too. Can't remember now for sure. I'm wanting to say Intrepid for some reason, and I do believe that's a dual fan system.
At any rate, the point I was making, the swap from I6 to V8 is all bolt in and bolt up with what you have currently, including big block. :waytogo:
Now that doesn't mean what you have will hold up to the big block, but it will bolt up.

I want to swap out my block in my k20 from a sbc set up to a 4.1 lol i think it may be kinda fun to see what happens. i mean who does that? right? plus i dont need hp i need tq and sbc's are gas mongrels unless we jump to injected now we may be stepping up some but off track here back to what i am looking for. so offer is there...

I hear ya, I'd like to slap one in a Burb just to beat the **** out of it and see how it holds up, especially with that TBI mod Jim mentioned. :D
