I've found a 3.73 GM gear set that I'm hoping will work for my 14-bolt full float rear axle. Axle is on a 75 frame but not sure if it's original. Anyway, ring gear has 3992484 11 41 stamped on it. I'm pretty sure that this will work, but wanted to check with you experts before buying. Let me know if I need to get any other numbers off the axle. Thanks.

What are you asking?

There is a carrier break at 4.10. So if you are only taking the gears, you need to make sure your current gears are 4.10 or lower. If you have 4.56 or higher you will need the entire carrier assembly with it. For general 14BFF info I suggest Billavista's 14 bolt bible.

Should have been clearer. I've got 4.10 gearing in the axle right now and want to switch to 3.73. So just looking at a gear set to swap into the axle. I'll take a look at the link you provided.

I would be half tempted to take the whole rear, or at least the carrier and gear set. Then just drop them in with new bearings, shim the pinion, and you will be set!

Carrier and gear set if the price is right. You can shelf your 4.10 carrier and gear set for future project or as spare parts if something goes wrong.
