Pulled he 350 from the truck Saturday morning, ran the numbers, it's a stock replacement goodwrench 350
Looks ok internally, gonna keep crank, don't want to bore it, what's the best rebuild kit and cam kit?
Looking for more torque through the curve and more horsepower as well, would be happy around 375-400 horse

That's a lot of horses from a stock 350. Not "a little more power". More like double.

You can get 400+ foot pounds of torque and 300-ish horsepower out of a cam change to the Comp Cams 12-231-2 or 12-235-2.

To get up to where you are talking, go to something like a Comp Cams 12-238-2 and a set of Dart heads like the 127322. Be aware that if you do not rebuild/upgrade the transmission, rear end, suspension, etc., you will tear them apart.

Both setups require dual-plane manifold and headers to get the most out of them.

Why not just leave it alone and put that money into the 496 build? Never understood why people want to build a engine to get them by while they build another engine. If it needs it, rings and bearings, fresh hone, polish the crank, RV or torque cam and be done. The heads that come on those crate engines will barely support 300hp in stock form and they arent worth putting money into.

Because I'd rather spend 1000 right now to drive it rather than spend the 7-8k the next couple years and it just sit

If you just want to do a low bucks rebuild
with a little more hp and torque while your
building your 496 I would just pickup
a master kit from http://www.northernautoparts.com/
with a cam something like 254/262, Lift .447/.462
I don't know about 375-400 horse but I think you can hit
the 300 mark just my .02
