Looking to replace my C10 truck's 2.73 gears with 3.23 or 3.42. Engine is a mild 350, trans is a non-lockup TH350, tires are 29" tall.

Sure, I can do the RPM calcs, but just want to get a feel from guys who are actually running that combo. What's it like at 60 mph and then 70 mph? Not that I drive the highways a lot, but don't want to be running in the slow lane at 55 when I do!

I may someday go to a 700R4, at which time highway RPM won't be a consideration. In that case, 3.42 gears should work well. But if I stick with my TH350, 3.23 or even 3.08 probably makes more sense. Thanks.

they are close enough that it wont matter unless you are trying to squeeze out every last bit of something specific ie 1/4 mi times, mpg.
