241 input swap- whats a good set of snap ring pliers?

all the snap rings are fairly strong split cut design (i think thats what they are called) with angled cuts. Keeps popping off my snap ring pliers with the little nipples. I managed to get it done, but it was a relative pain in the ass and i have to tear another one apart. Is there another type of snap ring plier that would work better?

Check out McMaster-Carr. They have all kinds of industrial snap-ring tools, including non-plier type for really heavy rings.

I used the pair on the left out of what I had here. It wasn't perfect but it got the job done. I used to have a pair with big flat pads on the ends but I can't find them for the life of me or remember who they were made by.

Dad has an assortment of snap ring pliers so he’s usually got just the right ones for transmission work. IIRC these were the ones I used for that type of ring, I think Amazon sells lots of off brand copies of these.

I bought a set of channel-lock brand snap ring pliers that came with a set of different shape and size tips that seem to work well on lots of different applications…. I can’t remember if they came with flat tips though

had a failed snap ring on my kids 241 which caused MAJOR damage. ended up gutting everything except the case
get a transfer case saver, never have to worry about yer snap rings, been in my sons truck over a year zero issues

I got this pair of Knipex 4521200 pliers as well as a straight version of it specifically for dealing with snap rings without eyelets on shafts, works a treat and gets a good hold on the rings but not cheap.
