Got a free 6.0/4L80E with throttle-by-cable combo with all the wires and whatever I could take off from a friend of mine a while back and have since put it in my garage and let it sit. He said it ate oil somewhere and that the transmission has no reverse. Combo has only has 138,000 miles on it but it was a cattle feed yard truck so it probably has a bunch of hours on it. The truck I'm putting it is is a 1984 Chevrolet Silverado short bed 2WD and was wondering on what I might need to make it complete.

What I have from donor truck:
Powertrain combo (4L80E has no reverse and is a 4WD but I don't have transfer case)
Left wiring harness on motor and everything connected
Fuse box from engine compartment
Harness for front headlights and back taillights
Wiring from engine fuse box to cab but had to cut at firewall :(
OBDII plugin from cab. Had to cut out :(
and possibly more but i can remember at moment

The picture is my truck and i have since raised the front 2in. and lowered the rear 1/4in and the day pic was taken the headlight glass just shattered (I have since replaced it)

The 6.0 has been known to burn oil... some more then others. I think it's the piston rings.

I was going to actually pull a head off today and see if that was the culprit or if the head gasket (s) were blown. My wrist fear is that I'll have to bore it out.

That was a problem straight from the factory. Unless it's a high rate like 2 two quarts every 4 thousand miles I'd consider it normal. The 5.3 didn't have this issue.

I didn't get much of a description just only what was wrong with it And that it did consume some.

Might be awhile, but the biggest pain is cleating of the dirt/cow crap that got into all of the nooks and crannys.

The biggest kicker was when oil came out the throttle body. I opened it plenty before and never did that.
