I have a 1986 gmc c20, with a granny 4 speed. It was a great truck when soeed limits were 55mph. It will pull a house, but if you drive 60 or try 65 you cant even talk or hear radio over the roar of rhe engine. Thinking of do a swap for a 5 speed to increase ability to maintain a higher speed and less engine rev. Don't really use to pull trailers any more, just a small 16ft cattle trailer at times. Don't know much about mechanic terms but not afraid of doing the work, if I know what to order and the proper procedure to install or modify.

That's a great looking truck & I'd want to drive it with any opportunity available. The NV4500 & 5500 are common swaps. There's folks here that have done the swap & I'm sure you can find the threads easily.
