The tail light circuit (which also includes front parking, front and rear marker and plate lights) goes like this:

Out of fuse block (20 Amp T/L CTSY) and over to the headlight switch on ORN 40. If the H/L switch is in either the parking or headlights position, a set of contacts are closed and power is applied to the BRN 9 circuit. The BRN 9 circuit supplies all the lamps noted above.

The LT GRN lead in the rear lighting harness is power to the back-up lights.

Check the T/L CTSY fuse. If good, check for power at the H/L switch - on the orange lead.

If power is available on the ORN lead, pull the H/L switch out to either position and confirm power on the brown lead.

Here are a couple of clues:

If you have courtesy lighting - but none of the exterior lights are working - the problem is most likely with the headlight switch.

If all the other lights on the BRN 9 circuit are working (i.e. just the tail lights, rear markers & plate lights are out), you have a break in the BRN 9 lead between the firewall and the rear lamps.

Oh yeah, that LT GRN lead with the orange connector is most likely the test port for your TCC (torque converter clutch) system - if your transmission is so equipped.
