14 bolt SF disk brakes

All,

Going to install a 14B SF from a 94 3/4 ton 4x4 Chevy PU in my K5.
Since I need to move perches and shock tabs I'm considering a disk brake conversion.

I've found a couple of places that sell kits for the conversion:

In order to have e-brakes the addition of 70's Eldorado calipers are needed.

Has anyone used this setup before?
Is there another caliper that can be used in order to have e-brakes?
Of course would still need to fit within stock 15" wheels.

The later model GM SUV's have brake shoes under the rotor for e-brakes but not sure if they fit under stock wheels.

Buddy used the Eldorado calipers on his 1 ton.

Been a long time ago, but he never had an issue with them.

I am unaware of any other caliper, or setup that works.


But you can make anything work.

I've been gathering those parts for a while to do the disc conversion , the only thing I'm missing are e-brake cables. I don't recall which vendor the brackets and hardware came from.
I found caliper cores at a scrap yard and re-built ones at a local parts store.

The setup from lugnut 4x4 allows you to use the stock e-brake cables.
Options for just the lever if you already have the calipers or new calipers with the levers already installed.

Just wondering if there is something better after 40 years.

I had El Dorado calipers when I did mine. I could get rid of them fast enough! They did not hold worth a damn!

I went with 3/4 ton front calipers and drive shaft mounted parking brake. It worked fair.

Ultimately, I went to 13 x 3 1/2 drums. Parking brake holds great now! Unless you really NEED discs, save your money and stick with the drums.

I've heard mixed reviews on the Eldorado disk brakes.
Also worried about availability.

Did moving to 13" brakes change any mounting points or have any clearance issues?
I will be replacing all of the brake hardware anyway.

Edit:

Looks as though 13" is for 8 lug?
If so, I will have to stay with 11" since I have 6 lug.
