Hello
I blew the rear end out of my snow plow suburban the other day and recently bought another 10 bolt 6 lug rear axle with 342 gears.
Today I opened the diff cover again and noticed one of the teeth on the ring gear has a small chip.
The day before at the junk yard I pulled the Diff cover to confirm the gear ratio but did not notice the chip.
I have spun the axle by hand and is seems nice and smooth.
There is only a very minimal amount of pinion play between the pinion and the ring gear.
The teeth on the pinion are all there with only one micro nick out of the edge on the pinion, not even hardly noticeable.
I have photos of the ring gear but not sure if I will be allowed to post them or not.
I only paid $212 dollars for the axle.
With out spending more money does anyone think it would be safe to run?
The magnet appears to have caught a average amount of wear filings.
