Moving on from Ford, new owner of 1981 Suburban

Forgot I made an intro thread.. a couple of pictures are on my phone, just need to upload them when I get home. Donmateo, I had a 97 F350 gasoline and a 96 v6 explorer. Currently have a 95 aerostar as a temporary work/cargo vehicle until the suburban is finished. Decent work van but I'm working...

How's the best way to tow this?

Thanks for the heads up. Trust me this was a one time thing and I'm glad everything went well. I mean until I was home and trying to unload it, but that's a different story haha. Plus this trip motivated me more to get the suburban running and get a full size car bed lol Sent from my SGH-T399...

How's the best way to tow this?

Here's the only picture I took, maybe sometime I'll put the straps back on the steering wheel just to show you guys exactly where I put them. Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk

How's the best way to tow this?

Sorry for taking forever to reply, I'm alive and well. I ended up loading it backwards and used 2 ratchets for the steering. One on each side of the wheel connecting to the window pillar, then left the front windows down. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of that. It was dark and snowing when...

How's the best way to tow this?

This car wasn't equipped with seat belts haha but that does give me an idea. I can roll down the windows and go from the steering wheel to an adequate mounting area under the car on both sides with ratchets. This will be in addition to the eye bolts so there will be 4 ratchets holding it still...

How's the best way to tow this?

Yup it's an RR layout, which is why I can't do the the conventional drop driveshaft method. Pulling the cv axles is going to be a major inconvenience, especially considering I'm picking it up outside and never worked on an RR vehicle before. Plus there's the weight distribution with a van that's...

How's the best way to tow this?

That's a really good idea. Do you know what size the bolt should or might be? I'll probably get 3 or 4 different possible sizes just to be on the safe side. Sent from my SGH-T399 using Tapatalk

How's the best way to tow this?

Ok so I'm not an expert when it comes to towing vehicles, but do have the general knowledge to do it safely. This weekend I'm going to be picking up a 1960 corvair in idaho falls and taking it to utah, roughly 200 miles away. I'm going to use a 95 ford aerostar as the tow vehicle, which is why...

Moving on from Ford, new owner of 1981 Suburban

I'll try getting pictures soon, life's just been too busy the last few days and the truck's parked at my parent's house. The police are called whenever there's an unregistered vehicle on my property so unfortunately I can't keep it there for a bit, which also means less time to actually work on...

Moving on from Ford, new owner of 1981 Suburban

Hey everyone, I'm the newest owner of an 81 K20 Suburban. Currently not running due to blowing a transmission and sitting for a few years before I picked it up for free. I do have a decent amount of experience with cars, just never really worked on older trucks. Seems easy enough though...
