    TBI issues, please help diagnose...

Thank you for all the help folks. In the end those of you that guessed Temp Sensor were 100% correct. It didn't make any sense to me, but then again I'm new tp playing with computer controlled vehicles. I prefer something older with a carb that I understand. On my other two vehicles the only...

    TBI issues, please help diagnose...

I don't take your comments that way. You are probably 100% correct. But here's the thing, I don't have the tools to do as you suggest. I'm a body/paint guy not a mechanic. I just figured that a truck with a very hard 188k on it, that sat for a solid five years before I acquired it was due for...

    TBI issues, please help diagnose...

To be clear, I didn't mean it was a spark issue, just that it would crank and I could see the injectors were squirting fuel. So today I bought a new ignition module, coil and throttle position sensor. My feeling is that the truck has 188k on it and I'm not sure those things have ever been...

    TBI issues, please help diagnose...

OK for anyone that has been following my build thread you know I started in October rebuilding an 87 R10 for my daughter as a high school graduation. And while I got the truck done in time, this whole Covid19 thing threw us for a loop in getting it registered and her driving it for graduation...

    3/5 Drop guidance needed

First off, if you are looking for a 3/5 drop, why would you get 3" spindles and also cut a coil? You will end up with a much deeper drop then 3" up front. Having said that... 1, Those are good choices on spindles and flip kit. 2, I bought Bell Tech drop shocks I found listed on Ebay. 3, Yes I...

    Body work on my '86

Good for you for taking on the project. Its not rocket science, but it does take skill and patience to do it right. I am a career body man/painter and have done many many restoration projects. Which makes me laugh when people bitch at the costs. I like that you now understand!

Time to grow GMSB again !!! GMSqaurbody.com on FB

If I might make a suggestion.... I noticed that the FB group is set to Private. That means that only members can see posts. If the goal is to grow this forum by way of them learning about it on the FB group. Then you may want to make that group public. Otherwise the only people that see it, are...

Time to grow GMSB again !!! GMSqaurbody.com on FB

I just submitted the request and answered the questions on the FB group. I like FB for what it is, but I prefer these types of forums.

    When is a cab too-far-gone?

Personally.... I don't think they are ever too far gone. It's just metal and all of it can be brought back to life. However, It does come to a point where you have to ask yourself why when good rust free cabs are still available at somewhat reasonable prices. Now, if a really rough cab has some...

    Painting inside of bed

Personally I would prep the bed and do a spray in bed liner. It will hide a lot of sins and is easy to spray. Some of the kits even come with the correct spray gun.

    1981 Stepside fenders

I'm surprised that no one makes one. It appears LMC has one, but it isn't pictured but there is a listing for it.

Thanks for that. Kind of what I suspected, was hoping for an acknowledgement of my thinking.

    Rear spring bushings

I have my truck torn down in a winter redo. While at it I have decided it would be a great time to replace the rear spring bushings. So I go to the local parts store and was given a pair for the forward bushings that are 1.75" and a pair for the rear that are 1.5". Here is my problem, my truck...

    Lower control arms....

I am in need of control arms for my truck. They are pitted badly having lived in CT all its life. I see there are stock replacement uppers available, but can't seem to find lowers. I have an 87 R10, so two wheel drive control arms. Or am I just not finding what I need, do you know of any...

    Lowering...I'm kinda lost

I just went looking thru their web site and don't see any listing for square body trucks, only S10's. Is there a hidden back door or am I blind this morning?

Eliminating one fuel tank... looking fir a how too.

Temple selector? Is that the selector switch? Do I just eliminate it and connect hose directly to the tank? Is it really that simple?

Eliminating one fuel tank... looking fir a how too.

My 87 has dual tanks and I am replacing the bedsides and the new one has only one filler. I will be eliminating the driver side fuel tank. What will I need to do to do this beyond the simple removal of the tank? I am guessing there will have to do something with the selector? Remove the fuel...

    Lowering

I'm going 2.5" dropped spindles in the front, and hangers and shackles in the rear for a 4" drop. Personally I would like to do a flip kit in the rear and add lowered springs in the rear and go a bit more, but not Low Rider. But I am building this truck for my teenage daughter and want...

    White spots?

The clear is delaminating form the base. Thats why it shows as white, its separating. My guess is that it was painted at some point in that area and they either didn't put enough clear on it, or used a "value" clear. The cheaper clears don't have enough UV screeners and will eventually fail on...

    Control arm replacements.

Thanks again for the information. Mine are pretty crusty that's why Im thinking its time to replace rather than redo as you are. I guess maybe I'll get mine off the truck and evaluate more before committing to one or the other path. This information has been helpful.

Awesome information. Thanks. So I’m curious is the A arm the same other than that shaft??

    Control arm replacements.

So I have an 87 R10. The front control arms, both upper and lower are, well from New England. Lol. They’ve seen better days. And while I could remove them, press out all bushings and ball joints. Then sand blast and paint etc before rebuilding them. I would prefer to just replace with new units...

    4/6 drop questions

This is just my opinion, others may chime in. But it has been my experience that once you go past a 4" drop in the rear a notch is going to be needed. You might get away without, but when driving and hitting bumps, or if you put anything in the bed, the axle would hit the frame.
