Quadrajet Dual Capacity Accelerator Pump Switch

Quadrajet Dual Capacity Accelerator Pump Switch on my carb needs wired. So I have no carb accelerator pump sensor switch on my 1985 K10 305ci. I don't even know what it looks like. There is 2 plugged ports on my thermostat housing could that be where it goes?. Can anyone show me what one...

    Exhaust Question on 1985 K10

Not really fond of loud trucks. Will the CC make it a bunch louder? M

    Exhaust Question on 1985 K10

No inspections that I know of here in NW Florida. Probably would cut out converter then put bypass pipe in and take to shop to have welded in. M

    Exhaust Question on 1985 K10

A friend mentioned to me that the original Catalytic Converter may be bad on my truck. He suggested I should just have then local muffler shop weld a bypass pipe on instead of replacing it. I know the previous owner removed and bypass the emissions on the 305ci engine when they put a new long...

    Transmission cable issue

Worked today on the TV cable again. Every time I adjust it it comes out the same. When I thought back I realize that I connected the TCC fire wall valve back up to vacuum as I described in another thread and thats when no downshift started. I disconnected vacuum and the trans up shifts...

    Transmission cable issue

Well I get no downshift at all. The normal acceleration is smooth and seems to be totally correct. I also re-hooked up the TCC valve on fire wall. No sure that has anything to do with the downshifting... M

    Transmission cable issue

The TV attachment point is 1 1/8 inch from carb butterfly shaft but maybe slightly back and not straight up and down. I printed out the deg measurements on paper and the movement looked correct as depicted in drawing. Fingers crossed that it shifts as it should now.

    Transmission cable issue

Wasn't sure if this is called geometry, but made sure that the connection to carb was close to these measurements in degrees. I have the same line drawing. thanks

    Transmission cable issue

So I read the service manual I found on this site. Great Job BTW!! The TV cable operates very smoothly and does not bind or stick. So I adjusted the cable so that idle position is where the TV cable starts and pulls back to on its own and at WOT is the max position it extends. At WOT it is...

    Transmission cable issue

Thank you I will check cable connection on trans tomorrow. Could the valve itself be bad? M

    Transmission cable issue

Wow I guess I am lost. The cable is loose at idle and can't go any tighter at WOT. How would a different cable change that? I was thinking it was the linkage on carb that could be wrong. The TV cable being further away from pivot point would change indexing. Thanks for the reply... M

But it does not downshift set like most videos said to set. Also most vids are Holley carbs with optional linkage... M

    Transmission cable issue

Well I pushed the button and released it, then went to WOT and the cable clicked. That seems to be how to adjust by watch videos. Thanks for telling me what it is called. Learning is good :-) M

    Transmission cable issue

I have a 305 in a 1985 K-10 truck. I have a TH700R4 automatic transmission that has what I call a "Kick down" cable attached to the Quadajet carb. When I put the cable on the carb it is too short to allow full throttle. When I push the button and extend the cable until it allows full...

    Leak in steering

Well I could not keep the shaft stub in while unscrewing the adjustment plug. I purchased a NAPA steering gear box and installed. All is working now. One lesson I learned is to replace the hoses. Got all together just to find the pressure hose had a small leak in it... Gees :whymewhyme: M

Oil leak from front differential on K10

Got seal out. Thanks for the help !! BUT, I was astonished to find no gasket (#5 in diagram) or (#6 in diagram) oil slinger. I removed the bearing and the race was fine. Bearing seemed to have some play so I will probably replace since I got it apart. Any ideas why no gasket or oil...

    Leak in steering

You guys are probably correct. After I watch rebuild videos, I am thinking that the only seal I would attempt would be the steering input seal because the plug adjuster screws all the way out and the seal can be changed on the bench. I have not seen anything else that points to a gear box...

    Leak in steering

Good to know. Thanks very much. Always like to fix if it does not exceed my mechanic talent. Best friend owns a GMC dealership so I would start there if I was replacing. Really surprised no one chimed in that had replaced the seal on their truck. Kind of scary since I see a lot of folks...

    Leak in steering

So I found a complete rebuild video series. I am going to try to replace just the input shaft seals with a kit I purchased. Hoping to do on the truck. Will report back. M
