Hello everyone. I probably could have put this into the current “what have” thread but I have several pics that I wanted to include. I've got one of those NP203/TH400 setup somewhere out in the weeds. I love those dual crossmembers with skidplate. I'm building a '78 K20 GMC with almost the same setup as you with the exception of mine being SM465/NP205. Keep your pics coming and let us know the "what-for" on the hole...- Strick

I was going to mention that I've seen 20's with TH350 trannies which are shorter than the TH400. @Idaho, you bought your K20 when I was only a few months old!!! Wow. HS- Strick

Welcome from The Tarheel State. It may be possible that the TH400 had an NP205 behind it instead of the NP203. The crossmember mount is bolted to the NP203 and then to the transmission whereas it is the opposite for the NP205. There may be a length difference between the two mounting styles but...- Strick

Welcome from the Tarheel State. I'm awful fond of the '79 as I have a pair of them; C20 Crew and C30 Crew Dually. My dad bought the C20 new and I grew up riding in the back seat. Look around and I'm sure you'll decide on what to do with the powertrain. Good luck. HS- Strick

Bondo roof. What to do?
Lift it and put on some 37's and only folks on the overpass will know... I agree the aforementioned flapper disc and straight edge approach though, really. Once you've established that the roof is not trashed then I'd put the stud gun and pick hammer to work. Body filler and body work will make...- Strick

3in body lift pucks
The good news is that you're removing the body lift; the bad news is that 37's are going to find the front fenders with only a 4" lift. I've had D30 trucks with 37's that would rub with a 4" lift too, even with the additional frame and front differential height of the Dana 60. If you do some...- Strick

Frame swap
The frame horns on the front are a bit different & there are more holes cast into the rear of the frame as well. Seems like some of the forward bed mounts are different too. It will work without much modification though. HS- Strick

Cab swapping.
Don't talk about the swap a bunch either. DOT/DMV will want to inspect it & will definitely be hateful about tampering with the VIN. Felony charges could result... Find a good 81-87 2wd donor & close the garage doors until complete would be my advice. HS- Strick

New For Me 1985 Silverado 20 6.2 Diesel
The switches thread into the door jamb. Just unscrew them but be prepared to have a broken wire when finished as they will sometimes twist into. HS- Strick
