    K10 suspension upgrades?

Depends on what joint is on there now. I had to use a conversion joint for a while, but that was on my old NP 203 case. Check the diameter of the cap. Also, make sure the drive shaft is the correct length. Measure yoke to yoke in the same place on both trucks and see if it matches.

    OER Fender Quality?

Here's the fit of the OER fender I purchased 2 years ago. The fit isn't perfect, and the metal is noticeably thinner than the original. But my truck is more of a play toy, not a show truck

    K10 suspension upgrades?

You will have to change the master cylinder to 3/4 ton. Brake lines, parking brakes, and valve are the same. I think the calipers are the same but not 100%. The only thing I would worry about is the frame if you're going to start hauling a load. I have managed to break every 1/2 ton frame I've...

    How to achieve tighter steering?

I was probably in my early 20's, and he was probably late 60's. Now I'm 50 years old and that doesn't seem all that old! He was a sharp cookie though, helped me to rebuild my first steering gearbox. It's still in the truck today, works like a champ and doesn't leak a drop

    How to achieve tighter steering?

I was told many years ago by an old man much smarter than I, not to remove the rag joint and install a u-joint. His reason is that the rag joint absorbs vibrations and movement from both the road and from the cab, to protect the bearings and gears in the steering box and in the column. Your cab...

    70's engine oil cooler

Great info, thanks! I found that clip and I think I found the angle bracket. Do you possibly remember if the cooler bolted directly to the underside of the radiator support top panel? The brackets are to short to go from the top panel to the bottom of the radiator support. But I know I took...

    70's engine oil cooler

Does that loop bolt to the cross member between the engine and radiator support? I know the 80's models have that bracket, didn't know about the 70's

    tire/wheel combo for 2.5inch lift

I have 35's on 17 x 9 rims, 4" suspension and 2" body lifts. Took the truck for a test drive yesterday and noticed a slight rub when turning hard to the right and driving into a deep ditch in 4wd. You may have problems with 35's depending on how you use the truck

    New K20 owner!

Are you sure those are not original axles? The front looks like a Dana 44, and that's what they would have used in 74. To remove the steering arm hit the side of the arm right next to each stud. You may have to hit it pretty hard but the cone should pop up out of the arm and you can slide it off...

Extended front brake hoses for 6 inch lift.

Make sure they're DOT approved if you're going to be driving it on the street

    70's engine oil cooler

Does anyone have an original KC4 engine oil cooler from the 70's? I was wandering if there was any bracket or insulator where the hoses pass through the frame cross member on these trucks. I don't remember taking anything off. Also, my radiator support doesn't have the mounting holes and I was...

How Will My Square Body Look With XX Lift and XX Tires?

My work in progress. Dropped it down to 4" suspension, 2" body, factory 3/4 ton camper special axles, 35" Interco Thornbirds. Front end is not finished yet, but it's starting to look like a truck again. May have to raise the front a little more, don't really like the nose dive look. Do that...

How Will My Square Body Look With XX Lift and XX Tires?

78 K20, 12' suspension, 3" body, 48" Goodyear Terra flotation tires, 2.5 ton Timken Detroit axles. That was then.

Any tips about a rear wiring harness replacement that I should know about?

Rock Auto has a harness adapter that fits between the factory plug for your trailer wiring

Best source for a new dash pad for my ‘87? LMC? Brothers? Other?

USA-1 seems to be very slow to ship anything. I'm still waiting on a 2 piece rear window seal I ordered in August. But USA-1 is the only company I found that said their seal will work with a factory sliding rear window. I ordered door panels and kick panels from Cheyenne in July, got the parts...

    Bent clutch linkage

Best picture I could come up with. You can see the ball stud should be flush with the bell housing, no threads showing. and straight into the bell crank. The out of alignment could be mounts, but I think it's just the loose ball stud. The big question is the threads in the bell housing...

    Bent clutch linkage

Yes, I agree with you, in a perfect world with good synchro's and a foofey NV4500 you can match the engine speed with the gear speed and gently nudge it into gear. But anyone that's had to do this with a worn out old SM465 knows 1-2 is not bad, 2-3 takes a little finesse, 3-4 you try to get it...

    Bent clutch linkage

I wouldn't drive it. Ball could break loose at any time. You can drive a manual without a clutch, but it is a PITA!! And you definitely don't want to drive it if you have to hit a bunch of stop lights. You have to shut the engine off and start it in gear every time you have to stop. Then it's a...

    Bent clutch linkage

That pivot ball is very bad! Looks like to me it started backing out and is now pulling out of the last few threads. Also looks like your Z-bar may be worn out. That ball should be centered, it rides inside a cup. They are rebuildable and you can still buy all the parts. Hopefully you can still...

    Heater box question

Can anyone tell me if any sealant or rubber seal was originally used between the heater box and the firewall under the dash? The box has posts at each of the mounting points to space the box out away from the firewall. Just seems there would be a lot of air either blowing into the insulation or...

    Loop Style Hood Latch Dimensions

It has shown back ordered for over a year now on Classic Industries. Still hoping for some measurements. I know I can forge one out of B7 rod and thread it. I'm really wanting to get my old '78 out for a test drive next week!

    Door window glass alignment

My '77 glass runs up and down just fine in my '78 using '84 regulators. It does loose a little speed going through the relays compared to straight to the battery, but not much. It shouldn't be considerably slower. I used some cheap relays I got off Amazon and #8 AWG automotive wire off the...

    Clutch safety switch help

Hopefully you have that nylon stud. They're nearly impossible to find. This is on my 78. You can see I rerouted the wires underneath. These switches are not the most reliable. Sometimes it just won't start and you have to jump it out. Next day it will work just fine. It always reads continuity...

CAMPER SPECIAL WITH CABOVER/ HAULING CAPACITY?

I think the class of camper special may make a difference. Mine was a '77, K20, Z81 code, Basic Camper Special-C, and the camper loading information tag shows a cargo weight rating 1082 LBS. GVWR is 8400 LBS
