    Tell us about yourself

guess i'm a 'little guy' around here. 5'11" 175lbs retired army cavalry scout i like 'knowing how to do stuff' but not 'doing that stuff' all the time. i live on 100 acres m/l, 30 minute drive to the nearest town of 5000 residents. before 'the war', i was pretty outgoing, now i like to mind...

some help sourcing a vacuum line would be appreciated

there is a 'hard plastic' vacuum line going from the intake manifold to the climate control 'box' (the thing with the fan switch, hot/cold lever, and a/c,vent,heat,defrost lever) the hard vacuum line is stopped up and therefore won't operate the vacuum operated doors in the air delivery box...

some help sourcing a vacuum line would be appreciated

i've perused rockauto, lmc, and 'google'. i'm trying to buy a replacement length of that semi rigid vacuum line that goes from the intake manifold to the back of the climate control. (t line going to vacuum ball and through the firewall) anyone replace theirs? mine has a defect in it very...

Would it be possible to hook up a gt grant steering wheel to a 85 column shift

it the car was a gm product in the same year range, you might be good to go. there are a ton of adapters for the endless possible vehicles to put those grants on. :) i had a phase in the very early 90s of putting my grant signature wheel on every monte carlo, regal, grand prix, cutlass i...

Would it be possible to hook up a gt grant steering wheel to a 85 column shift

one of my favorite wheels. just go on the grant site and get the adapter/install kit. it will push the wheel toward you a couple inches though. the horn pigtail is usually 'in the kit'. good luck!

    Cassette Tuner Recommendations

+1 on all the above. scour the swap meets and flea markets. stick with sony, alpine, pioneer etc. stay away from the kracos etc. the lower tier stuff will certainly work but as stated above, the amplifier stages are where the difference is quickly noted. not just the 'loudness' but the...

the 'flying turd' soars again, mostly...

sorry for the lack of details. no, the gauge has looked that way since i bought the truck. i figured i'd need a new sending unit or a new gauge. the needle doesn't move with key on/off or engine running/off.

    Custom alternator voltage

i'm not an electrician by trade so i most certainly am NOT saying i know everything. i am an amateur extra class license holder from when you had to demonstrate theory in detail. mosfet driven 'stuff' reacts in a curve to voltage. (tube driven amplifier stages do also but luckily were aren't...

    Custom alternator voltage

https://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-015564 that's what i use to feed an HF mobile rig requiring 20amps and a vhf/uhf rig needing another 7amps. hf radio is super sensitive to noise so yes, there are products that will NOT introduce noise into your audio system. good luck!

the 'flying turd' soars again, mostly...

as some of you may remember, i managed to destroy an np208 transfer case. brief background: i'm a retired army cavalry scout and rated 100% broken by the v.a. 6 kids, 4 have their own families now and 2 still at home. my only son calls me up to tell me his power steering pump pulley flew off...

Hard to shift into and out of 4 wheel drive

1985 should be aluminum except k30. anyway, even if you fill up the case with the proper fluid, this could happen. my case was super duper hard to shift from 4wd to N to 4lo. then it died. that's my 'flying turd', so be careful and get that case some lovin'. :)
