Just watch out for that tranny in that model year. They were notorious for those years when coupled with the 2.2. Had 2 of them and both were junk!

    Speedometer Cable Discovery!

I had the same problems as you all did, bouncy speedo, I changed out the junker thinking it was broken in some fashion but it wasn't. I too put an AC Delco speedo cable and now speedo works like it should. Made in Mexico but at least it's on the same continent!:dancingpoop:

    bed side panel removal

Well, to answer that question. I'm working from a low ball budget. I could have bought new bed sides from LMC but they wanted $350.00 each and I only paid 1500.00 for the whole truck. Can't see paying half the total cost for just 2 bedsides. So I cut out the section over the wheel arch and...

    bed side panel removal

Here are the promised pics of said bedside skin. There were spot welds about every 2" along the inside bedrail, a dozen or so along the front of the bed and several along the back by the tail light. Those were the ones holding me up as they were on the outside of the bed where they were painted...

    bed side panel removal

Got it off fellas. As I was unceremoniously banging things with hammer and chisel (in the wrong spot) the rest of the spot welds manifested themselves so I drilled them out and off she came. Thanks for all in-put.

    bed side panel removal

Yeah, I have all the spot welds drilled out that I can find. It appears to be hanging up in the area of the tail light housing but I don't see any spot welds there. I'll keep at it and hopefully I'll get it off.

    bed side panel removal

Hello all. Searched the forums for this and all I found was how to remove the front bed panel. I'm trying to remove the driver side bed skin. I have all the spot welds drilled out and most of the panel loose but there is something holding it at the tail light pocket assembly. I don't see any...

Daaumm, that's expensive. There's a place in Garnett Kansas that'll sell you a whole rust free bed for a little over that much! Just look on Kansas City craigslist.

    What is this?

I don't believe it's cruise related. I have that same item bolted to my driver side valve cover and my truck is an 84 K2500 Sierra without any frills.

Going back to your bed bolts, try heating the nut on the bolt with a torch. Worked great for me.

    52in to 56in spring swap

Jumping on board here as I saw folks talking about rear brakes. My K2500 has the 13" drums but the brake shoes measured 2.5" wide. I see on here where folks are saying 2.75 and 3.00" wide. Do I have the correct width brake shoes? Thanks.

    Rebuilding an 84 steering column

That is a thought but but manual steering columns are kinda hard to come by in these parts. I was just wondering if the multi function switch section of the column could be moved over to the 83 column. Thanks for any and all thoughts.
