To seal or not to seal rockers

It's no different than a door bottom . Make a drainage hole or 2 and protect the crap out of it as best as you can. Rust never sleeps (Neil Young).

    hypothetical, mpg

Don't we get this conversation every 2 or three months on getting more mileage? What's the point. If you want good mileage buy a prius. If you want to regularly drive a 40 some year old truck, just pay the price. You can spend thousands to save pennies.

    Horn wiring question

It's a later model Silverado wheel, OBS? I have that leather wrapped wheel on my '81 and '72. It's a straight swap if you have the correct stock parts in the column.

What parts do you carry with you?

I carry a 12 volt compressor with tire sealant similar to what comes with many newer vehicles since none of my vehicles have a spare tire. Gives me a 50/50 chance of not having to call a roll back. I make sure I have my phone in case I need the roll back.

    Rust Repair on Squarebody Chevy

I've done 3 cab repairs similar to what you describe. It's not that difficult. You'll need a mig welder if you don't already have one. Take a class or teach yourself like I did. You don't have to use the whole patch panel. Simply cut back to good metal and fit the new metal. It's a dinosaur...

I checked motor City k5, no bumper products available.

    350 to 454 swap questions

You could probably install a known good used 350 for about $1,500. Might have to buy an entire vehicle to get the engine, just sell off what's left if that is the case. Craigslist or Facebook. I would want to see and hear the engine running. Take nothing for granted. Fresh rebuilds untested...

    Cucv grille guard bumper

Motor City K5 offers some Hickey items. You might want to check their web site.

You might be able to get a battery adapter and keep using your impact after the original batteries die.

Where to find plastic Tailgate cap?

On second thought, POR-15 is not UV friendly.

Lower Control Arm Bump Stop Installation

Have you tried putting it in boiling water to soften it then lube the heck out of it?

Where to find plastic Tailgate cap?

I think POR-15 on a steel cap would be pretty durable.

89 V2500 seems to lack power going uphill.

My Blazer came with a 350 that lost power like yours. Changed cam and timing chain, nothing else and it's been running very strong for 40k miles in my '81 square.

How to turn a half ton into a 3/4 ton?

I don't know what your welding or fabricating skills are but replacing floor pans, rockers, inner rockers, A pillar bottoms, corners and cab supports is not really difficult, just a little time consuming. I would replace the metal instead of the cab. Your floor rust might be coming from a leaky...

    Sealing Bed Wood

Bruce Horkey has been providing bed wood and hardware for a few decades. Their recommended products are "Old Masters" brand stain and marine spar varnish. I used their products on a '69 stepside that I restored and the results were very good. I recently used the marine spar varnish on my friends...

Lund Visor’s…if ya got one how did you install it?

My '81 came with one and I added one to my '83 for $40. Original hardware is a self tapping hex screw with a rubber washer. I would not trust any adhesive for installation. My squares are original patina and I like the look.

    Carlisle, PA 2026

Speaking of Carlisle, I am looking for a vendor here on the east coast that would buy all of my 35years of accumulated Chevy truck parts as my project days are over. '69 -87 c-10 and blazer leftovers. Most used, some new parts as well. I'm in the Allentown Pa. area. Time to clean house. The...

    86 c10 lowering

Exactly what I have on my '81 c-10. 2" drop springs in the front, 2" shackles in the rear . and 2" spring mounts for the foreword end of the rear springs. My truck sits level. I fabricated Timbren bump stops that allows me to carry quite a load with no worries or sag. Keep a lookout for shackle...

1980 K20 Transmission Mount and Skid Plate help

Those washers are there to try and correct a driveline alignment issue due to the lifting springs. I saw a similar install on a blazer that I looked at but did not buy. There has to be a better way.

Mounting new doors before welding in rocker

Don't assume that the door is not the problem. My blazer is presently in the restoration shop and both doors are in need of alterations to make them fit.
