For whatever reason, I was thinking the CJ's were carrying more of a load. You probably could have had an engineered roof truss built for cheaper, but you still would have needed bottom cord support. That's a beefy set-up!

Chain should not go around a beam it creates a weak link but may be ok with the weight of bed.
Beam clamp (or trolley) with a shackle is the correct way.
WOW! Ignorance is bliss I supported the entire front end of a car that way, hoisted the front-end up to the rafters so I could get to everything on the bottom easy. I'd probably do it again, but this time I'd be scared. Dammmit

I laid a 4x4 across 8ft of rafters and put a chain hanging from the middle. Had no issues lifting the box off and putting back on by my self. Remember to brace the tailgate opening so as to not allow the sides to bend in.

This system braces the roof joists upwards.
Force the roof joists up, instead of hanging from any engineered roof truss, if you can.

This system will lift 2 tons, if the columns are welded, or cupped at the top. If I get to stay here, or take it with me to a new garage, I'll add a 1 ton trolley.
