That is the 4x4 trans cover with 1 of the strut rods that anchors to the motor mount.

so the one i posted.. is that for a th350?
The transmission doesn't matter much but yes, Th350/NP203 combo it was used. That one you posted is for anything with the Tall Tcase adapter so it was used on NP205 combos too. The W crossmember and the other later model truck wavey looking type use a Short Tcase adapter.

That's a skidplate and dual crossmember used I think 1 year. 1973 for the NP205. All squares got the NP205 in 1973.

@HotRodPC are we talking about the same thing
NO we weren't I was talking about what was in those 2 pics with the crossmembers. I'm not 100% positive but I think the bellhousing cover fit's all the automatics since the bellhousing is the same and the starter is in the same position on all models of transmissions. I have 2, one from a Th400 and one from a 700r4 and they are identical. I see no reason they wouldn't fit a Th350 either.

but is it attached to the bell housing or engine mount? i have a sm465 to a np208 which i hear needs a rod but i dont know where or how

The rod attaches to the big bolt holes on the right side of the 208, and one of the bellhousing bolts on the right side. One bolt up from the bottom bolt. A support rod from any trans/208 combo should fit.
See I learned something. I wasn't aware the double crossmember was an option. I thought was OEM and in 73 only with NP205's.

Yep, if you have an NP208 then any of the long strut rods from the Tcase to the bellhousing bolts should work since by then the transfer case adapters made the length so that any OEM factory combo was the same length. GM was good about stuff like that. They could buy all the same length driveshafts, all the same size strut rods, all the same crossmembers. Just like no matter what you spline input was, 27 or 32, all the NP208's I've seen are 32 spline outputs so even the same yokes work on the same length chassis. Take a long bed pick up, whether you have a Th400, 700r4, SM465, A883 transmission with an NP208 or even NP241C for that matter, the same driveshafts and crossmembers all interchange and since the lengths are the same, the same strut rod fits all too.
