Negative, they were quite careful to not implicate the manufacturer of the cheapo unit

I have seen these tools with NO lifter galley spool whatsoever.
Amazing......
I guess what users can't see doesn't bother them.
But, there is NO way oil can be pumped to the rockers if pressure cannot be built up.

I requested a return for refund from the ebayer but was refused.
I received the tool on 1/18, and notified them of the situation on 2/18.
they have a 30 day return policy (Jan has 31 days, so.........)
I have filed a complaint with paypal, saying the item does not match the description:
The description states that the tool "works with all SBC...engines,) which,of course,
due to the bad design, it does NOT work....
We'll see how it goes.
But, for $17.99, I guess at least I am being entertained...........

Most people don't know enough to make sure the rockers on the pass side are primed. They run the tool until they see some indication of pressure and call it done. I'm sure that's why they get away with making them this way.

I butchered an old TBI dist last night just as you did yours. I'm going to try to find a 7/16" stop collar (or drill out a 3/8" collar) to put up towards the top of the shaft to keep the shaft from falling out as it bounces around from place to place in my garage.

That’s a pretty good idea! A collar with a set screw would work real nice to keep it together.

Check tractor supply stores or similar stores, lots of collars like that in the ag world.

I did the same thing, except I ground the teeth off the drive gear instead of removing it completely. That way I know it engages the oil pump drive properly.
