Doing away with fuel tank selector valve??

I’m working with my son on his ‘84. I seem to remember my dad teeing the lines together so it pulled from both tanks on his ‘78 we had in the farm. He’s not around to ask anymore so I was wondering if anyone has seen this done before. Thanks

Theoretically I think it would work with no return line. Absolutely won’t work if running a return line.
Although idk about once tanks get lower on fuel and could see one sucking air and breaking the suction for fuel flow if one tank pulls easier than the other.

Welcome to the forum. Like @Grit dog stated, when one tank is empty, it will draw air. You will not get the advantage of two full tanks.

You can "T" the vent lines. Use a inexpensive brass tank selector valve.

Yes, I would highly recommend either a manual valve at some point you will suck air and lose fuel pick up teeing them together or just run one tank it's less capacity, but it won't starve itself and leave you stuck somewhere.

Thanks for the replies. I think we will just make sure the switch is working. I hadn’t thought about the fact that it could pull unevenly.
