Alright, alright, you guys have convinced me..
But now the question is: Am I just a regular glue kind of guy? Or am I Professional level?
Or... do I crack open a Monster and go Extreme with it?

I always use the middle one.

I've used the Permatex stuff many times over the years with good results. You absolutely MUST follow the directions to a T. I've seen guys use it and it doesn't work at all, but they have not been detail oriented guys. You must be clean, tidy and follow directions. Also do not mount the mirror to the tab for at least 24 hours, imho.

My old glass guy used some stuff that was incredible. He would apply it, then stick the mirror on a minute later and it was on there for good.
What do you use to clean the glass before starting the process? I've used Permatex many times as well, cleaned and cleaned and cleaned the glass and the button, and made sure not to mount the mirror for a day or four, and still the mirror drops after a few months. I haven't remounted mine in the Jeep or the '81 because of this.

I think I used acetone or rubbing alcohol or both at different times because the button won't stay adhered to the glass. Haven't tried Lacquer Thinner.

I've used laquer thinner, accetone and probably other stuff too. After removing all old adhesive with a razor blade.

Oh, the first trick to do before anything else, is stick a little piece of tape to the outside of the window, where the tab goes. Once the glue is gone, it's a guessing game.

I guess I'm unlucky. I tape the glass, scrape the glass, scrape the button, clean the glass and button multiple times, even use some 300 or finer grit sandpaper on the button to make sure all residual adhesive is gone and provide some grab for the adhesive, then clean the button some more. After all of that, and waiting to make sure everything is dry, follow the instructions to T.

Numerous times over the years of this failing, I just leave the mirrors in boxes somewhere

I think my truck lost it's mirror somewhere around Y2K.. so I have no positioning idea. I'll be "best guessing" for sure. :D
Yeah my truck's mirror had fallen before I bought it so I just kinda held it up to where I liked it and then marked the glass roughly where the stem landed. I've since had 2 windshields put in it and did the same each time lol

Took her to a car show last night to stretch her legs, grab some beers and let her mingle with her own kind:

Honestly, I was thinking of it being a project for her to work on and learn some good life skills. I don't want her to have something ultra nice. I do want minimal seats and a manual. Its hell for these kids when I was them at one time :gathering:
That is a god Idea. She will take care of it after working on it and realizing the cost and hard work to get it road worthy! My dad bought me a 54 chevy pu I enjoyed it but I spun a main bearing and had to rebuild it. You learn up when you don't have the vehicle anymore and it's on your dime to get it back on the road.

I have found if you just give your siblings a car and send them out the door they expect you to take care of it.

These hood hinges have been soaking in Blaster for days and are still seized up, guess I'll have to swap my other hinges on and put these springs on them. Was trying to avoid messing with the springs if possible.

Springs aren't that hard to put on and off! You will be saying to your self why didn't I do this a long time ago!
