Wanted: Factory step bumper for 1987 fleetside

I am looking for a factory GM step bumper for a 1987 pickup with a fleetside bed. Ideally I would love a NOS chrome one but I am ok with one that is painted or the chrome is in need of replating. It just needs to be straight, not rotted and no extra holes.

I am in STAFFORD SPRINGS Connecticut and am willing to drive 4-5 hrs. (250-300 miles) to pick it up. I also have friends all over the country and they might be able to pick it up for me.

I cannot say that ALL of these trucks came with added on bumpers but a great many of them had the rear bumpers installed by the dealership. The painted ones frequently had the dealership name stenciled into them.

There are some decent aftermarket replacements available. The Westin brand bumper is probably very close to what you want, somewhere around $430 new.

FYI the Westin step bumper I bought rusted just as quick as the
Chineseiam front bumper I got from LMC.

Was very pissed.

I would prefer a factory bumper as my truck had one and am Leary about aftermarket because of quality.

I’m sorry to hear that but I’m glad you posted it.
Just cemented my decision to wait until I find an OE front bumper for the 77.
Can’t beat good old school original chrome plating….

I would consider new,...but before install de-grease any coatings.

and rattle can primer and painting a few coats on the inside and outside,
...maybe finish the inside with something like bed liner etc,...(spray of pebbles/ sand off the tires etc to nibble at paint)

The aftermarket/dealer-installed bumpers of the 70's and 80's were quality bumpers. Not like today's offerings.

I differ in opinion. The real steel bumpers and chrome lasted till the redo 3 years ago. They had the same amount of rust that the new ones have after only 3 years? See the rub?

There are a couple of nice GM chrome diamond plate's at a wrecking yard in Georgia, but they won't ship

I found them listed on carpart.com, searching for a rear chrome bumper, and I found a couple trucks with good bumpers and the interior. Atleast they appear that way in the listing photo's
