hei Distributor
I have a 1986 1/2 ton truck it has a 350 engine and it has the big hei distributor with vacumn advance it has the 3 wires that come out and plug into the cap but then it has 4 on the back side that plug in to a plug that goes into the firewall. pulling to the right!
When ever I step on the brakes hard and sudden the truck darts to the right, if I press slowly it doesn"t seem to pull. I felt of the wheels after driving and there not hot like a caliper sticking. But I guess it could be any other ideas what it might be. Thanks in advance. -

gas gage not reading correct
problem solved Well I took the gage out of the dash. Went to pull a part bought 2 gages one out of a half ton truck and one out of a suburban. tried the one out of a truck and it read fine and the one out of the surban read fine also. I could move the float level and watch the needle move. swap...- Perry C

gas gage not reading correct
well I bought a new sender and still 3/8 of a tank is as good as it gets. I the main pink wire and plugged the new sending unit up eliminating the other sending unit still all I get is 3/8 of a tank on full. I unplug it gage goes to full ground it and it goes to empty. okay I've pulled the bed where I can get to the sending units. If I unplug the connection to the selector valve the gage goes to full if I ground the main sending unit wire it goes to empty. I also checked when I press and hold the tank selector switch the correct wire gets 12 volts. so I...- Perry C

Could it be the selector valve or does that narrow it down to the sending units? I can hear the valve switch but could it have a short in it not reading the fuel sending units right?- Perry C

well I unplugged the fuel selector valve and the gas gage goes to full I tried grounding out the 3 pink or look pink but it didn't change the gas gage. pulg the fuel selector back up select right tank 1/4 tank left tank does go to empty from an 1/8 tank but I've dove a couple of days on the...- Perry C

I just traded for it so I don't really know the history or how long it may have been sitting. I think it was being driven daily. gas gage not reading correct
I have a 1986 c10 with dual tanks, I can hear the switch change the tank selector valve but the fuel gage only reads 1/8 on the left and 1/4 tank on right and both are over half. any ideas? thanks in advance.- Perry C
