    TH400

1976 up TH400 solenoid attaching bolts (2), speedo retaining bolts (1), and rear mount bolts (2) are metric. ALL other TH400 bolts in all years were American, so if any bolt in the transmission other than those listed above is metric, then it CANNOT be a TH400.

    NP205 Speedometer Issue

That is NOT a nut. It is part of the speedometer housing. The housing is 1-1/4" long with threads on both ends with the hex near the center. To get it out you must have a thin wall socket, preferably 6-point. A thick wall socket will not engage the hex enough to get it out. Worst case is...

Looking for a NP241c Passengers side drop

Good luck finding one. You need 90-91, but you can use 88-89 IF you have the 90-91 center housing and the reluctor on the shaft. Every time I see one, I grab it. Do not have any now.

    NP833 Shifter questions

The NP440 (aka A833) had the aluminum case with standard front bolt pattern ONLY in 1981 and ONLY rear wheel drive. 82-89 had cast iron case, had weird front bolt pattern, and came both 4x4 and rear wheel drive.

Whats it worth? 6 bolt housing 205

You got a screaming deal!!! My current selling price for TH400-NP205 adapters is $500 for the figure 8 (and I don't have any) and $911 for the round (and I currently have 2 in stock).

    Manual transmission help

Looks like a NP440 (aka A833) to me. Fits 1982 to 1989. Don't damage the bell nor the front bearing retainer. They are made out of unobtainium.

    TH400 help.

Sounds like a case of morning sickness to me. Morning sickness is caused by fluid draining out of the converter back into the transmission when sitting overnight. The next morning, the transmission will not engage until the converter has been pumped full of fluid. Not sure of the cause, but...

    Transmission identification help

You have a Saginaw three speed transmission. Replace the seals in your side cover.

    Opinion on transmission

Forget the NV3500 4x4 option. Only way to make it work is to dismantle the transmission, swap output shafts, put it back together with the proper tail housing (not 4x4 housing). Same rule applies to most, but not all, 4x4 transmissions.

1987 Chevrolet Suburban 4X4 208-C1 transfer case question

Thread is old, but need to update my post relative to the OP's post so future readers do not get confused. The assembly number on all NP/NV transfer cases with the round tag is split by the center screw. The complete assembly number is BOTH parts, both left and right concantated together, in...

    How to Identify a 700r4

NOT all aux 700s have the St Louis Arch. Cases with casting numbers 8675369 (91-92) and 8673598 (93) do NOT have the arch. It is possible that there may be another number which I have not seen yet. Not oddball at all. Most, but not all, 91-93 700s do NOT have the arch. Yeh, old post which...

    General question about transmissions

TH400 never had a lockup converter.

    Is a 85 700r4 ok?

NOT all aux 700s have the St Louis Arch. Cases with casting numbers 8675369 (91-92) and 8673598 (93) do NOT have the arch.

    Wiring, plugs, speedo cable

    All 700s have that connection.
