At one point I even tried a brand new pump that put out the 18-20 psi but it really ran like crap with both sets of injectors so I ditched it. I'm still in the learning process here and by no means claim my setup is right
No I'm running a 95 TBI 454 in a 89 truck with factory computer but a tuned prom. The fuel pump is what came in the truck but it's putting out 30 psi so it's close to the 155lph(43.5) psi that a 96 vortec pump puts out as an upgrade recommended by Brian. I had the injectors from the 95 in there...
Yes I do. It is from a 95 but I've got the injectors from my 89 in there. According to Brian Harris from TBI mods these TBI 454 engines run better with the 155lph fuel pump from a 96 vortec engine. That's about 43.5 psi so I'm actually a little lower than he suggests...but I have to agree it...
Yeah that thermal paste or compound is a straight up requirement. And dialectic grease is not a substitute.... although it's better than nothing. Back many years ago when I was learning about how to build computers we would use toothpaste as a substitute for thermal paste....in a pinch. I...
It seems to be running correctly now, besides I don't want to really go changing to much until I get the tuned chip for it. I should get that Thursday and then I will go from there.
Well I switched computers but no change. So I pulled the dizzy and went thru it.... again only this time I pulled the ignition coil of the dizzy and noticed there was no thermal paste under it!!! So I found some and lathered it up and re-installed everything and fired it up....waited for it to...
1989 454 TBI that starts and idles like a dream. Has a snappy throttle response and excellent power.....until it hits operating temp of 195. Now it will still sit and idle and I can put it in second gear and creep around all day with do problems. But once I give it the gas and it's above 190 it...
Mine is a 1989 K3500 cab and chassis single wheel with IFS and TBI. It was not just a pick-up truck with bed removed. I've always assumed it was a GMT-400 but I've had several people tell me it's a square body which is the source of my confusion. Here's the picture of it
If the cab and chassis trucks continues be square body up until 91 then wouldn't a 1989 k3500 cab and chassis be a square body? This is all confusing as hell!!!!
