Twice in the last couple of rainy days, my voltmeter has dropped to zero momentarily. first time I had just witched on headlights. Turned them off and volts came back. Today, I turned off lights, no difference but after a few more seconds volts came back. Lights on again. Is this something that could be caused by a faulty switch, or is my alternator on it's way out. Alternator only one year old. Thanks

Check your ground connection near the top of the left kickpanel.

Okay, thanks. Left kick panel meaning near parking brake pedal? Just want to be sure.

That's it. It's a 6-legged spider held to the panel with a single screw. Remove the screw and clean it and the panel and the spider. Apply a small touch of copper-based anti-seize and reinstall.
If that doesn't fix it, you've already prevented a lot of electrical gremlins!

Well, never did find the spider connector above kick panel. Maybe I was looking in the wrong place. But, turned out to be the head light switch. While I was in there I replaced the aluminum finned thing that has something to do with wipers. I had a spare column and stole it from there. Fixed my intermittent wiper problem.
