Good job @Frankenchevy !

Yes, there are bushings available but only in industrial applications or non-factory conversions made by the aftermarket. I still highly doubt bushings are used from the factory for engines and transmissions that were designed for production.
Seems accurate, but I personally couldn’t say 100%

Not even that. Your TC snout should fit perfectly to the back of your crank with no bushing. The small hole for the pilot is about 1/2 of the diameter of the TC snout. I’m holding a MT pilot bushing up to a TC snout.

here’s a brand new gen 1 TC and a 327 crank. Identical measurement.

That's what I meant. Thanks for showing the pics of Chevy stuff. No bushing for an automatic. A Gen I engine and period correct Chevy automatic.

OP said Goodwrench engine with bronze bushing. All of my jibber-jabber was referring to that. Apples/Apples or Oranges/Oranges. What ensued were non-chevy or chevy conversion scenarios or examples, whereas I never wavered from the original subject matter. It's cool to know the parts are out there for any conversion under the sun, and some come factory like that.

You asked why. I tried to back out at 2:21, but.Things persisted@ 7:22 tonight I explained it real well and things persisted. And now it comes down too how we were only talking about the original posters comment. He doesn't even have an automatic.

I stand corrected, @Snoots mentioned bushing for an automatic. That's when I started wanting to know about the automatic transmission pilot bushings, as I hadn't ever seen one on any gen I engine with a factory issued non-conversion-type automatic.

The conclusion is some come factory with them, others need them because a non-factory engine or transmission is used, or some type of conversion took place.

With that, I am out. I learned some stuff today, and that's what matters.

I thought this was a Chevy-GMC forum, what's all the BS about jeep and other foreign car convertor bushings?....I'm just here for the bagels
I tried to stop it all at 2:21 yesterday but it just spread. Maybe I should of worn a mask.

Ehhh, if the questions weren't answered, and the answers questioned, we wouldn't have learned anything today.

I'm posting this in hopes, people that didn't know, now will know some symptoms and things to check when swapping transmissions, engines, or torque converters.
