So this may or may not fit here. I have an 86 Suburban, solid front axle, currently has a broken cam and I need to tow it 1000 ft around to my carport. Its backed into my neighbors lot. Where is the best tow/pulling/recovery point to pull from?

If it's 4x4, it's most likely got tow hooks, but not always.
Optionally, you can wrap something around the axle tube, or on the bottom of the frame rail at the front , you may find holes you can hook something into.

If you do the axle tube just avoid damage to the tie rod

Hm. No tow hooks that I can see. Dont really want to pull from the axle. Might end up doing the engine swap where it sits.

Pulling from the axle tube is perfectly acceptable. Being that it's just going to be rolling along (not buried in mud), you could just about pull it from anything without hurting it. But the axle tube is stout.

Sounds good. Moving the replacement engine to the shop and going to start tearing into it this weekend.
