i had a clinking noise and a chirp in my front end from my truck. i found out it is a no no to use red grease in wheel bearing assemblies i pulled mine apart and the red grease had turned to silver grease from all the metal shavings every time i finally got smarter.
i bought new inner and outers along with timken bearings and used general purpose grease from wal mart and now im not changing wheel bearings every 2 months it has been almost 5 months sense i did mine and i just checked them and they are still fine and the grease looked clean.
all i do is repack put in a new seal along with torqing the castle nut to factory specs.
the old red grease i used was lucas red and tacky high temp extreme pressure.
