Has anyone had a good experience getting an aftermarket rad support that wasn't super thin and flimsy and if so please tell me where.....I got one from summit and it was bent to crap in shipping so I sent it back.

I’d be scared to do that. Besides the bumper, that’s your first line of defense in a crash, and then you kneel on it and/or sit on it to work on the engine. There was a guy down the road from me in Kenner who had a beautiful OEM single headlight core support that would have been perfect, but I guess he gave up on selling his parts stash because I can’t find the listing. Shipping would have been rough, too, I suppose. Any junkyards worth anything back there? Maybe check Partshotlines.com.

Yeah I've got one from a 88 suburban but it's got dual headlights and I don't know if I like the dual setup vs the single headlights but is very heavy duty factory part vs a flimsy aftermarket one.

Dunno if I’d want to bother with aftermarket. My relatively clean 83 gasser had a rusty rad support. My 87 6.2 parts truck was rusted all to hell but the smoky diesel kept the paint black on the rad support, so I swapped that one in. Might be something to consider.

Guys check out Fastenal's third party logistics service. I got a tiller for my garden tractor shipped for like $75 from about 250 miles away. I believe it needs to be palletized but its worth looking into.

Found a couple used ones on Ebay but they are $300-350 shipped and are very far from perfect.
