Adding keyless to '87 w/ OEM power door locks

I finally was able to complete the installation of OEM PDL in my '87 and now am looking to add a keyless remote. I bought LMC's keyless remote kit years ago yet never tried to install it. Has anyone added a keyless remote to a OEM setup? I prefer to use the OEM actuators and rods as well as maintain use of the OEM door switches on the doors. Thinking I have to make a choice to keep my OEM setup or switch to a remote -only set up. Thoughts?

If it were me I would use aftermarket alarm with remote start, helps deter anyone from stealing the truck and remote start in winter.

Not familiar with the LMC system but any decent aftermarket system (Viper, Python, Avital, Clifford) will allow you to retain your factory door lock switches, rods, and operation. You are adding a remote controlled brain to trigger the existing door locks so no choices will have to be made. I suggest looking into a security system with a starter inhibit that will help deter any amateur thieves trying to start your truck. You can add proximity sensors and tilt sensors as well if youd like or feel the need.

Remote start is nice, I'm going to be installing a viper system on my Burb. Now I'm not 100% sure here but with the random cranking times of a TBI (long cranking time after sitting or cold, short crank time when warm) you will want the tach signal from the truck going to the alarm brain. Not a virtual tach or timed crank like some alarms have options for.

Our trucks are pretty simple and its probably 10-15 wires to splice into and a couple of relays.

The install is simple as mentioned, all of the wires that need to be tapped into are under the dash beside the steering column. I have one installed on my 91. it opens the tailgate window as well. Check the wiring diagram in the manuals that are posted under reference library section to verify what wires to connect to

Gonna have to look into that. I would love for the Burb to start up like it does when its warm all the time.

If it is only 1 or two second difference than it likely to not be an issue. Just that injectors are on top of the intake. Long cranking times can be due to fuel pump relay, poor fuel pump, bad injectors or ignition

When its cold its like 3-5 seconds. Once its warm then its about 1-2 seconds. One time she threw me off and fired right up after sitting a week through that last cold spell.

Its easy, the only added step is bypassing the clutch safety switch and making sure you NEVER leave your car in gear.

I've had this LMC keyless kit sitting in my garage for years until I finally accumulated the rods, relay, switches, etc to install the oem system. Remote start will have to wait unless I get a different set up like a Viper.
