In most cases the 90 degree V6 models will have the same as the V8 Full size trucks. But, 60 degree V6 and 4cyl use a lighter duty transmission and a differant bellhousing pattern.
I think the 2.8 is a 60* and the 4.3 is 90*.Does an S-10 have a 90 degree or 60 degree V6?![]()
I think the 2.8 is a 60* and the 4.3 is 90*.
So what is the smaller trans called?
And so, if you buy a S-10/S-15 with a 4.3 it should have the 700r4 then?
And what about the transfer cases on them?
yah, I was just wondering what those trucks had. I also wonder what the rear axles are.Depends on the year of S-10. The earlier ones probably had th350's![]()

I used to have a 85 2 door blazer with the 2.8, piece of farking **** that motor was.
If my memory serves, 82 was the first year for the S model pick ups and 700r4 had made its debut that year too, so probably a 700r4. I think the 4cyl models may have come with 3speed auto's and 4 speed manuals. If it did come with a 3 speed auto, its more than likely a Turbo 250. Same as a Turbo 350 with less clutches in the clutch pack, and adjustable band and eliminated the intermediate clutck pack. I'm not real fond of that transmission.
Yah, manual trans would have made it more bearable, Mind had the auto and it blew the front tranny seal when I was on a road in the middle of the moutains upstate.x2 on that! my 93 s-10 had the 2.8! I loved that truck but that 2.8 was absolutely worthless!!! The only saving grace to it was that it was a 5 speed manual so at least it was a LITTLE fun to drive but don't ask it to pass anything!
4 cyl: TH200; 6 cyl: 700r4
4 speed manual: Isuzu; 5 speed manual: Borg-Warner
1983-88 transfer case: NP207; 1989-93: 231C
