Thanks for your support. I’m finally just reading this now. Maybe I am over my headYou know what, you have surprised the crap out of me. Your first posts I figured OK this guy has big dreams is over his head on the knowledge, and he's never going to complete it. 99% wouldn't have. Good job man!!!. I'm telling you this, because I think you have the perseverance and willingness to learn. Reconditioning these boxes isn't hard. It's not for everyone 99% don't even understand where all the adjustments are what they do and what adjustments to make in what order. But I'm sure you can fix your box,or on disassembly you'll see something not replaceable is worn and you'll know then, yep just buy one.
I don't think you're over your head, thought so in the begining, but everything you started, you finished with pretty good results. Don't discount yourself, most people would have started your project and given up.Thanks for your support. I’m finally just reading this now. Maybe I am over my headBought my truck when I was 14 and have been working on it since. I kinda think I want to rebuild it now but not sure yet or if I have time
Well this really wasn't too tough punched in the GM number, got 2 compatible components, took less less than a minute,Im sure if I tried harder I could find more using the GM number.Sorry I inconvenienced you. Maybe you should gather all the data and compile the comprehensive how to for the rest ofThat GM part no. you referenced is discontinued. The Dorman shaft you referenced has a DD upper connection which is applicable to a late square body, not the earlier splined column. Once again, bits and pieces of the puzzle. Somewhere, sometime, someone will post the entire story.
Summits pictures are incorrect as that's the exact one I purchased.I knew nothing about steering boxes so I bought a Redhead unit for my 84 K10 and I am really pleased with it. It was a little stiff at first but I have no regrets.
