Seems it is all a matter of perspective. In my mind, if it is newer than I am, it is late model.

New guy question...

So, just out of curiousity...does anyone look at the build threads on this forum? I posted one and seems no one even notices. Pretty sure I put it in the right area, etc.

I only ask this here since it does appear that folks look at the introduction section on this forum.

I have been a member of another older car forum for 20 years now and build threads get more attention than anything else there. So, just trying to clarify. I know that they can be a good back and forth sharing opportunity for information as well as place to reference later when searching how others do stuff.

Yes people have been looking at your build thread. Yes you put it in the correct place. You have some likes. With build thread folks here tend to look at pics. We have a saying " If you don't have pics it didn't happen" Your new, give it a little time people will start to comment, or ask questions. We are just like family here. Some you'll like, and some you won't. Some we just give bunches of crap too. Just FYI, that @animal guy isn't right, but he's got a pretty forehead... . The one guy to watch is @Old77, he has... well let's just say he wrecked a beautiful Suburban, I guess just because he didn't like it... There are a few others on here to watch out for, but we can get into that later...

It's so windy in Oklahoma no only because it sucks there isn't one tree or mountain between the Canadian border and OK.

hmmm, I'm a bit shocked. Build threads is usually, or was at one time, the most popular threads on the place. So I'd agree with you on the older car forum and build threads getting the most attention. Same here. but what has gone wrong? I'll be checking into that. I noticed the other day, that some threads in SOME categoriies do NOT show up in What's New menu bar at the top. That's what I do. When i come in here, I got straight to What's New. If a thread doesn't show up there, then I miss it if I didn't go directly to the other forums. There's a reason for that and it's necessary. For an example, our Outdoors section where we talk about camping and guns and such. That's off topic stuff not related to trucks where we all after years of being here, become friends and chew the fat and share other things about our lives. It's not necessary to be up front and center so that when newbs come to VISIT the site, they see all the off topic unrelated content. We'd prefer them to see truck related content and consider registering to be a member. Then, if they are interested in the other antics, they can go check that out at their leisure or their choice.

We used to be VBulletin software platform. A few years ago changed to Xenforo platform. There is minor differences between the 2 and a few things didn't transfer quite right during the transition. At any rate, certainly something that needs looked into cuz you're right. It makes no sense. Build threads were or was the most attention getters and now you're saying you're getting overlooked like a fat ugly red headed step kid. We don't like that at all. Even if you are a fat ugly red headed step kid.. EVEN IF IT'S TRUE, we don't want anyone overlooked. You can ask the boys, I notice threads from time to time that never got responded to and I certainly mention it, that we need to do better, and not just staff, but the regular members that are here daily too. I'll check it out. For now I gotta run to an Eye Dr. appt about about 45 miles away and gotta run.

I completely understand changing from one platform to another, what it takes to attract new folks while also keeping the long time folks happy, etc. I just know I am also used to how another forum works and am one of the more active folks there. So, I have just been hesitant to spend much time on other forums since I have seen more with very little traffic or interest at all which makes it tougher to get to know folks, learn anything, share knowledge or whatever.

I think I may have figured this out. I just have a feeling or at least a suggestion why you didn't get much RESPONSE and maybe I'm wrong. So your post is a mile long but it also includes pics. it is showing 71 views, so it did get looked at. And then the first post being long, there were more and more posts. I'm guilty of it, but your orignal posts prolly got skimmed over and partialy read, and pics looked at. We're childish like that, we like picters here. That's a long read, like some of my posts. LOL that probably don't get read but I type fast sooo... But I think had it been like a Truck Intro post FIRST with a paragraph or so, like how you acquired the truck and how long you've had it maybe, I think it might have generated more responses. I'd leave it alone for now. Thats a very detailed plan. It will get read and it will pick up momentum. Especiallly if you have it up to date where you're at now, then say make a post with a couple to few pics what you got done this weekend and a paragraph or so, I think you'll get more responses posting updates now as they happen, rather than post up the whole build from the start. Guys do follow builds, and make suggestions and give opinions, just that you posted a bunch to look over with a timely read, and then a long post to respond too. I don't know for sure, maybe that's it, but it does show up in What's New and New Posts.
