Welcome from Pa. I really love those Indy U101's!!!Just joined after getting a late model pickup right after Christmas to turn into my daily soon. I have been messing with cars since I was 12 and mainly mess with cars from the 20's through the 60's. The truck I am working on now is an original paint (other than the driver's door) 1987 R10 SWB. I bought it from a widow that I had also bought a 51 Ford from. Anyway, it's been a few years since I owned one of these pickups and thought I might join here to learn what I can. When I got the pickup, it was in the middle of a grandfather/grandson project where they were trying to make it his daily. It had a new motor sitting in it and all new brake parts. I finished up the brakes, lowered it, bought different wheels for it and am trying to finish up the engine install. Hoping to drive it in the next few weeks.
Here are a few pics of how I found it, when I picked it up and what it looks like now. Still need to get some tires so I can swap the wheels, clean it up good, and work out any little things that I find when I start driving it.

Worked at the local Chev/Cadillac shop,1968 to 1980. Had a guy from a neighboring town come in and order a 69 Biscayne 2 door sedan. 390 horse 427, turbo 400 and a 4.10 posi rear. At the same time he ordered 307 fender emblems and had us install them when the car came in. Then did his "additions" to the car......surprised a LOT of unsuspecting folks!!!!! Ran like a bandit!!!!
Yea, my car has always had those weld wheels and slicks on it, so my "fooling" folks wasn't near as effective as what you describe. I honestly just changed them out mainly since I thought they were a little cleaner than the ones with the engine CI next to the light. I think I still have the 307 ones that I have been storing since I pulled them off that car in 1991.
And we really can't say much right now since TX beat OU this last year. Of all the games to lose, OU had to lose that one.

Well now, Texas is a little bit bigger than Oklahoma, and we have a higher population, so that averages out to more vintage truck owners....
And, technically, I lived in Texas for about 8 years growing up too. So, seems there is some blending…lol

Yeah, it's true. There is alot of in common between the 2 states. Mainly Oil and Beef. I hate driving in the DFW Metro, especially the LBJ, but then you get out in rural TX state highways, it blew my mind. I had to ask my wife at the time when we went to go see her parents. I seen these people pulling over to the right shoulder but not stopping and I'd move over to the double yellow or maybe even over it a bit and go on around them. Then I noticed it kept happening and kept happening. I had to ask, WTH is what there people, I've never seen so many people in my life have to pull over to take a piss in my life. It's been going on now for 30 miles or so, about 12 different cars pulled over to the shoulder. She said, they're doing that cuz you drive faster and they're letting you go around them. I said, REALLY? So they're just scooting over cuz they see me coming up in the mirror cuz I'm not riding anyone's azz. She said NO, that's just rural TX and how they drive. i said, DAMN, they do something right here after all. That's cool as $hit.And, technically, I lived in Texas for about 8 years growing up too.
