I'm not painting it "light gold"/pewter. I'm painting this truck that forest green that was popular back in the 90's on these trucks.

Ah. Either way, you still have to worry about the same issues. It just won't be as noticeable.

At least yours are all one color. This 92 is like 4 colors and the dually has an aftermarket front clip so is a few different whites and primer Like I was telling @bluex on the GMT400 forum, for convenience I may end up painting the dually at my house 1/2 at a time. I know people say the paint may not match that way especially if you paint them on different days with different weather conditions but it'd be so much more convenient LOL

At least the doolie is white, white is so forgiving. As long as the days are similar weather, it ought to be ok

I realize its somewhat different but every car we build at work the main body is painted there. Bumpers, fenders and running boards are painted somewhere else by another tier 1 company. You'd never know they weren't done at the same time.

Well I dont anyhow, I don't have that paint/bodywork eye for stuff unless its really obvious.

I think for a regular appliance truck white you'd be ok painting in sections as long as it was done relatively close together (like the next day) so temps/humidity are the same an the paint in the can is still fresh.

Alternatively hit it with 4 turbo cans an call it a day

With solid colors, it really makes no difference. With metallic colors, air pressure and application technique is far more important than similar weather conditions. Imho.

Same difference. That green is metallic too.
That said, I suck at painting but have piece mealed together several different metallics over the years and not had an issue with them matching.
The 4 different colors thing needs to disappear first with any paint job unless you’re going to use 2x as much base coat as necessary. Differnet color “primer” can/will affect the outcome. Again unless you’re totally burying it with more color than needed. JMO from a shadetree guy.

Yep. I was going to first cover it in sealer primer to get it all one color and also block it "one more time" before I start shooting base coat. I wasn't going to just start painting directly over the paint you see on the truck today.
