What is supposed to go here on the HVAC blend box?

I'm in the process of redoing the interior on my 1973 K10 and I found two issues of concern.

The defrost vent tube that attaches to the top of the HVAC box behind the dash has a huge gap between where it connects to the box. Initially I thought that maybe I just needed to pull it down further and closer to the box. However, there really isn't any slack in it which makes me think something is supposed to go in that gap. Maybe just a foam gasket would work fine, but I want to know if there's a specific part I might be missing.

Maybe just some foam tape from Home Depot?

I just went through this on my 73 c30. If you loosen the mounting bolts for the heater/airbox you can adjust it by lifting or rotating it. You'll need a second person to tighten the nuts on the firewall once you get it where you want it.

Thanks, I'll try this first!

I'd use the actual foil HVAC tape, not typical off-the-shelf "duct tape". The actual HVAC tape holds up much better over time.

Yep, that's what I ended up buying. I suspect it will last a while if it's meant for ducting.
