fixing hood hinges

You can't get grease in all the little tight spots in those hinges. Before you buy new, hit them with Kroil and see if that fixes the problem.

I know this is an old post but it's very similar to my problem. I just put my hood back on and finally I was able to go in and adjust the hinges all the way down and they still stick up about 1" near the windshield. I can push it down once closed.

One thing I noticed was the "rivets" that act like pivot points for the whole mechanism aren't fixed to the brackets and just sort of float around loose between everything. I'm guessing this isn't correct and probably the cause of my problem but wanted to check in with others.

It's all the rivets with the little X on them seen in this pic - I assume those should be permanently fixed to one side, right or no?

Sounds like the pivot pins in the hinges are shot.

But what do you mean by adjusting the hinges "down"? If you simply loosened the bolts and moved the hinges all the way down in the slots, then the hood can still be adjusted lower. Or did you adjust like described in post #8?

The rear most bolt that holds the hinge to the fender can allow you to adjust the hinge. I assume moving it to the furthest down position would lower the hood near the window.
