It very well could be. Depending on the person running the line that day, could be in the glovebox, under the dash, stuck under carpet etc. If there's some discoloration on the plastic inside the glovebox, could have been there at one time. But from the looks of it, definitely correct for the year and trim package. Very very cool find! Would love to hear more about it's history!
You’re referencing the build sheet which could still be hiding. The options tag was always glued semi permanently on the inside of the glove box lid.

Welcome, that's a good score! Looks to be a mostly complete and original real Sport. As for the SPID sheet, I've seen several '73-80 trucks have them stuck to one of the inner fenders under the hood as well
Well I stand corrected. My bad. Glad mine is in the glove box. That’s the only place I’ve seen them but you’ve been through a lot more of these trucks than I I’m sure.

Welcome and congrats on the new find! I'd start off with the GM Heritage center for your year and model. That will give you some clue as to what was offered and some insight on the vehicle. Any other documentation on the vehicle being a Sport trim or? If the original options sticker is inside the glovebox, should show the RPO code iirc Z77 for a true sport edition. Everything looks like it's right for the Sport Edition. Yours should be a Cardinal Red (73) and Midnight Black (86) with a Carmine interior. Shown below is what looks like a late 1980 stepside (square headlights) with the same package.

I’ve been using Dezos Garage to look at brochures. Maybe it’s linked to GM Heritage center. GM Heritage also has the spec books for each year Chevy (and other GM) which is a gen more useful in decoding what’s what. And fun to read through.

@Chevy Sport, wow, cool find! Idk if anyone repops the sport hood ornaments or the decals and stripes but if you get pics and dimensions, anyone with a basic vinyl cutter and software can remake them.

Granted, that may or may not have been where it was from the factory but I've probably seen 10+ that way so I just assume that it could be

Thanks so much for all the help ,and welcoming. I plan on redoing the exterior as close as I can to original. I absolutely love stickered up 70s and 80s vehicles. Im hoping I can find the correct code for the red. It almost has an orange tinge to it in certain lights. Back when I was a teenager my neighbor painted my Vega 1975 Chevrolet truck red which also looked orange in certain lights. I have a friend who has a sign shop, and said he could reproduce the orange/yellow/red striping. Its my winter project, and I will be documenting it on my YouTube channel Hodge's Hot Wheels and Diecast. I saw a n.o.s emblem on ebay. But it was $300. I'll just repaint mine . The truck has spent its whole life in Kentucky, and hasn't been tagged in a long time

Welcome and what a find! You have been blessed with a wonderful configuration in apparently whole condition, man you should buy a powerball getting that lucky. Keep the pics coming as you embark upon your square journey. Cool rig, can’t say I've seen one like it in person.

Sometimes you will find a build sheet under the seat. They sometimes stick the paper between the foam the springs. I had one in my 1985 and I had a 70 impala that had one under the back seat

Howdy from Ohio!

I've always wanted to track down one of those Sports and give it my all on a restoration. I'll probably never be able to actually do that (already have more than a lifetime of projects, lol) so I'll just live vicariously through your project. Please post pictures as you go!

Look for a part number on your emblems. I couldn't find my emblem anywhere did a search using the make and part number and OER was reproducing them!
