Hello Everyone,

I'm working on gathering up all the parts to swap out my dummy lights with actual gauges. That said, I have all the gauges (and more) they're just kinda stuck all over the place. So switching to a much cleaner factory gauge cluster that has gauges vs lights. I digress. Anyway!

I've searched but I can't find an answer here on the forum. The fuel gauges are 0-90 ohms but ALL of the fuel sending units I can find are 0-95 ohms. Would this cause an issue? Would this make the fuel gauge never show all the way full? Or would it show slightly past F with a full tank?

My fuel gauge doesn't work currently. I haven't looked into it yet, but would like to go ahead and find the correct part replacement if/when it comes to that.

Thanks

It shouldn't. There's an acceptable range/allowable variance when talking sending units and that's well within range

Hello,
Have you found a resolution for this issue yet? I am having the same issue. I just put in a new fuel sending unit that is 0-95ohms and i bought a new fuel gauge but it is only for a 0-90ohms. I hooked it up and it goes way past the full mark.

What year truck are you working on? If it's 86 or prior you need to make sure your sending unit has a ground to frame. And you need to make sure your frame has a ground to body, engine or battery.

How far past full? How much fuel is in the tank?

Out of curiosity, is the resistor on the back of the fuel gauge? But as mentioned above, make sure that you've got a solid ground at the tank from the sending unit to the frame. Grounds do some really funky sh*t in these trucks. Ask any of us who've been there.

Yes,and guess what a square does without a tank sender ground?. It pegs the gauge.Same if the frame isn't grounded.

STILL HAVING THE PEGGING OUT PROBLEM, EVEN WITH ONLY 1/4 TANK OF FUEL THE GAUGE IS STILL PAST FULL. I HAVE CHECKED THE GROUND TO THE TANK AND IT IS CONNECTED. WHERE ELSE SHOULD I CHECK FOR A GROUNDING STRAP OF WHAT ELSE COULD BE THE ISSUE? EVENTHOUGH THE SENDER IS A 95 OHM AND THE GAUGE IS A 90 OHM I WOULD THINK AS THE FUEL WENT DOWN THE GAUGE WOULD MOVE BUT ITS NOT.
