Sorry if this is the wrong section. Just curious and not sure where to put it.

Picked this bumper up for my burb and im confused what these holes are for? They’re evenly spaced apart, not lopsided, and look factory. I’ve looked at ambulances, fire chief rigs, CUCV, etc. What are they for…

And yes, unfortunately they cut the crap out of it for a brush guard. But I have plans to make it look better.

Squares didn’t have factory bumper accessories afaik. Aside from a few models that come special edition with a push bar etc. Those are factory punched. Not Billyjoejimbob with a 6 pack and a sharp drill bit.
My guess is not an OE bumper.
But the OP could help the guessing game by posting pics of the whole bumper / truck.

Def not.

Squares always had a bottle type Jack.

Yes, but is it a stock bumper? I still say it's an aftermarket or swapped from something else and those are bumper jack points.

Sorry. It is a factory GM bumper, it’s not factory to my suburban, and I estimate it’s 85-91 given the black “safety strip”

It's a 91 Suburban/ Blazer bumper with the 1 year only bumperettes. They do not go through the bumper bolts that year.

I was thinking that too, but im still wondering if it’s not… there’s no outline marks from them and the plastic strip is not ribbed. Although I do have outline marks from earlier Bumperettes.

My guess so far is a oddball factory snowplow option maybe for lights or adjustable stabilizers.

Pic added shows bumperette outline

But, there’s a good chance it’s a 91 bumper that never had the small guards installed, thus no rub marks, and someone swapped to the other bumperettes before cutting it to fit the brush guard.

The plastic bumperettes won't leave a mark as they are plastic and they fit over the impact strip. The rubber strip on their now looks to be cut by hand to fit the earlier, larger guards. There is at least 4 different bumperettes/ guards over the 18 years of these trucks. Additionally, these bumpers also were on some vans of that era.

Probably went to dealer in 91/92 and bought what was on shelf, reused earlier impact strip, and never installed the guards???

This. ^ but with a different plastic strip to cover up the holes from the OE strip like pictured. It’s straight it’s chrome, couple things you can do with the holes is mount something like lights or get some chrome push in caps and cover them up with that.
