I just picked up some 15x8 K5 aluminum rally wheels to install on my 76 K10. The truck rarely goes off road, but when it does, it's not there to perform anything like mudding or trail running. I'd like to get a fairly smooth and quiet ride since it's mostly on the road and I'm looking for tire recommendations that you all may have experience with. I am currently running 32x11.5x15 tires on my old wheels but the tires are ready to be replaced anyway. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Keep in mind big changes in tire size affect final drive gearing.

I'm thinking about keeping the 32x11.5x15 tire size. Are the BF Goodrich TAKO2 tires good for the road? I don't want something with huge sipes and knobs because I think those characteristics will be too noisy on the street. I've been looking at the Falken Rubitrek A/T01, Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT, Yokohama Geolander A/T G015, Kumho Road Venture AT51, Hancook Dynapro AT2, Falken Wildpeak A/T4W, Yokohama Geolander A/T4. Has anyone had any of these that they would recommend?

I can tell you from experience, BFG KO2s suck for wear most times, I hate those things. Coopers are hit or miss, I've never had good luck with them but a couple buddies have gotten well over 50k+ on the Discoverer AT3s. The Falken Wildpeak ATs are great tires, but they're heavy as hell so they ride rougher and do have a hum to them.

For what you're looking for, my vote would go to either the Hancook Dynapro AT2s, I had them and they were smooth as glass and quiet as can be. Did ok around the yard and whatnot, but won't go far in mud. Or Nitto Terra Grapplers. I've had several sets of these and they're great. Quiet, smooth riding but still do well offroad in most "normal" stuff.

Depends how much you want to spend, and what you want them to look like. Aside from that, it’s kinda like suggesting what you should have for dinner tonight.
I think you should ask hucked what he's having for dinner.

I run K02s exclusively on all my 4x4 vehicles and haven't noticed a noise issue. Could be that I'm deaf, or the exhaust note drowns out the whine. They've worn great for me on my Jeeps and heavy LR3. Good off-road and snow performance. I tried getting K03s for the square, but it was a year wait at the time for 35s, so got the K02s.

I put Toyo Open Country AT2 on my DMAX years ago and they had phenomenal wear. Lacked off road and in the snow. They hum a bit more now that they're worn down, more so than the Discoverers that came off it.

Goodyear Wranglers have always done well for me. I had them on the Land Rover, and currently my work F150. Being up in the Ski resort they kick butt in the snow/dirt and ride quiet on the highway.

for people with daily driver vehicles:
K02 are made for off-roading, ...not on-roading. heavy made to take hits from sharp rocks.
like they are the things on their own rims, that are swapped on for a off-roading vacation,
and then parked again.

how many on-road miles are you thinking about doing though?...are you thinking of using a 1976 in winter ?

I have really liked my falken wildpeaks at3's. They've worn great with 6000 mile rotations. Do pretty good in mud and snow, ice performance is decent but nothing beats a dedicated winter tire.

The hankook dyna pros are definitely more of an on road tire than the wildpeaks I would say. Havent put enough miles on the hankooks but they are decent.

I liked the falkens enough to put some on the wife's car lol

Thank you all for your responses. My truck is one to take around to the occasional show and drive on weekends. Our winter consists of 1 snowfall a year of about 2 inches. Ice is more of a problem than anything in winter here in the southeast. I may drive it around the property but not mudding. It will be on road 95% of the time so comfort is more important to me than sporting performance. The tires I currently have aren’t even made anymore in that size. General Grabber AP

I just installed Falken Rubitrek on mine in your size. It has a little hum but I expected more when I first saw the tires. With the radio off and window down I can barely hear them. Was great in the rain and would consider them an upgrade to the MasterCraft's I had (same size) that I replaced.

They are a harder tire than the MC's so they should last longer.

Highly recommend.

Find something with white letters that looks cool and trust me, tires ain’t what makes a 50 year old loud, cramped, squeaky etc etc, (fill in what your truck has or lacks) uncomfortable.
As mentioned already, Mine and @TotalyHucked recommendations are the only 2 that can’t be argued with or inaccurate thus far.
We got someone calling BFG ATs not on road tires.
We got someone that says Toyo ATs aren’t good in snow.
We got someone that speaks highly of GY wranglers but must not realize they make like 12 different flavors of Wranglers.
If you want quiet get HTs but they will loook like they came from a minivan except bigger.
If you want the Swiss Army knife between noise, looks and off road/snow. Get ATs
If you mud or want cool look get MTs.
Also treadlife is not one of your big concerns unlike tires for a daily driver. And any tire will give you a bunch of miles before it be worn out. Based on your intended uses.
