the only hiccup is 77-80 axle shafts and by extnesion the way the seal for the outer shaft and the c click get done, and then bearings in the hub , but the spindle and hub would be the same just taking different components
So will the ones the other guys linked work and be a direct fit? I am not wanting to change components. I will hold out for a solid correct set if need be.

I'd like to know this as well. I'd guess pre-'81, when they went with thinner glass.
My ‘80 has the heavy plates

i think you need to compare to the knuckles, the reason the old ones are functional both ways and those as you say are not, would make me think the knuckles are some way not able to work both ways

heres 1978 D44 front shield on the hub, sorry about the snow

The only differecne that I know of is that the axles in half ton would have smaller brakes for 15 inch wheels, but i dont know if that means the whole thing is smaller and the rotor is, or if the thickness of the rotor/hub is different and the caliper is the same with minor change in piston or something.

Remember, 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton are nominally the same in many ways in these trucks, just springs/brakes/axles (Capacity) , so ratios and tires and wheels not necessarily the axle itself (except 14 bolt semi floats and 10 bolts rears would be locked to one or the other, or 14 b ff)

8-lug rotor was a little larger than a 6-lug rotor, therefore the caliper mounts/backing plates are not interchangeable.

Ahh ok. That'll be in a few months when i get to doing the frame for this winter. Hence why i asked now, rather than later and have no Replies on the Post when i needed it the most.
